My Favorite Restaurant Has Reopened in a New Location
To celebrate the reopening of one of my favorite restaurants, I brought a small gift and paid them a visit.
The original restaurant was located on the outskirts of town, just a 10-minute walk from where I used to live.
It held many special memories: sharing wine and hamburg steak with my mom after a long day of work, enjoying rare moments of family time, and even gathering there for dinner after my brother’s wedding.
My go-to order was always the hamburger steak set.
As soon as I placed my order, I’d hear a satisfying “pop” from the kitchen as the chef released the air from the patties.
While waiting, I’d be served a fresh salad and a bowl of homemade soup—always changing with the seasons.
My favorite was the spring cabbage soup.
The hamburger steak came on a white plate, large and juicy, and in the fall, it was served with freshly harvested rice.
That delicious meal, paired with warm rice, would always melt away our fatigue—and bring a smile to my mother’s face.
Now, that beloved restaurant has reopened as an izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in the heart of the city.
The new location was once a sushi restaurant, and while it has been renovated, it still carries the warmth and charm of the old Western-style eatery.
To celebrate, I ordered a glass of sparkling wine.
The new menu includes classic favorites from the old restaurant, along with new izakaya-style dishes.
While sipping on the mildly sweet sparkling wine, I enjoyed a refreshing bonito carpaccio.
Then came a pasta dish with white fish, garnished with shiso leaves—perfect for summer.
I’m sure I’ll be visiting this place again and again.
I can’t wait to see what new memories I’ll make there.
