A few months ago, I took my first trip abroad.
The destination was Canada.
It was a three-month period where, in my 20s, I challenged myself to do what I loved without worrying about money.

When I returned to Japan, I struggled with reverse culture shock. I felt the need to make a change in my life.
I have been a radio personality for about five years. I started making videos with my radio partner. Surprisingly, I found joy in planning, filming, and editing, and I wanted to further master these skills.

In a state of uncertainty about being able to pay next month’s rent, I decided to buy the expensive iPhone 15 Pro Max, which costs hundreds of thousands of yen.
I bought it online. My hand trembled as I clicked the purchase button.
And today, that luxury phone arrived.
The first photo I took was of oden,sauce-covered pork cutlet rice bowl, and mini gobo tempura udon a type of Japanese cuisine, from a udon restaurant called “Sukesan Udon.”

Sukesan Udon was founded in 1961 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. Today, it has around 60 locations in Kyushu and Yamaguchi Prefecture, expanding as a chain restaurant.
Oden is a traditional Japanese dish. It is a simmered dish consisting of ingredients such as daikon radish, thick tofu, and boiled eggs, all cooked in a broth made from bonito flakes and kelp. My mother often makes it for me during the winter. The flavors of the ingredients soak into the broth, making it even more delicious.
Among the ingredients, I particularly love the thick tofu and boiled eggs.
There was also a sauce-covered pork cutlet rice bowl called “tarekatsu-don,” topped with cabbage and meat coated in batter, and the restaurant’s signature menu item, “gobo tempura udon,” which is udon noodles topped with burdock root tempura.
It was a night of slurping udon, hoping that this iPhone would prove to be a good investment.
